I saw an add for Westhaven Gospel night in Franklin, TN and decided to go when I heard that Ellie Holcomb was going to be performing. I wrote about her last year and have been wanting to see her in concert so I headed out. It was about 100 degrees and an outside concert but the sun started setting and it cooled down outside right as she took the stage. I am always pleasantly surprised when people actually sound like their records and Ellie did. She has had her talented husband, Drew, with her. They sang a handful of songs and then Ellie brought her family up on stage for one of the best moments of the night – a good old gospel song.
Also at the show was Kim Hill whom I started listening to in junior high. I had not heard most of her new stuff but she can still sing. She has an amazing voice and totally carries an acoustic show with much power and grace.
